In September 1999 a Young Entertainer of the Year Competition was introduced to promote and encourage our younger generation and it has proved very successful over the past  seventeen years. The aim of the competition had its emphasis more on entertainment value, than perfect performance, but proficiency obviously played a large part.

The competitors were chosen from the line up at the festival in May. However, in 2017 it was decided that as our talented youngsters have so many personal entertainment  commitments elsewhere it was time to have a break from this competition but it will return at future date.
