The Buchan Heritage Players were formed in Dec 2006 to promote the playing and singing of traditional music in the Buchan Area of North East Scotland. The group is open to all musicians and is particularly aimed at encouraging everybody of all musical abilities to enjoy and play traditional music. Our main aim is to keep traditional music alive in the Buchan Area and pass it on to the next generation.
We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month in Longside Parish Church Hall at 19.30 until 21.00. The first hour of our practice is to introduce the tunes at a slower pace for the youngsters (no upper age limit !) to learn. The last half hour is members choice of music. Sheet music will be provided free of charge and there is no fee for joining us. Come along and have some fun playing an instrument with us.
Our meetings for 2020 are now off until lockdown restrictions are lifted.
At present we have Fiddlers, Accordionists, Piano, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Mandola, Ukelele, Moothie, Penny Whistle, Spoons and Bodhran.
We are often asked to play at various venues throughout the local area which is a great learning curve for the younger members playing in front of an audience.
We are also supported by the Buchan Heritage Society
